Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari following his recent trip to the UK for medical check-up. 

Speaking during a radio interview, Bakassi dragged the President stating that it is quite unheard of that the leader of a country would abandon his country's healthcare system and fly abroad for medical treatment. 

He also asked why the President's doctors cannot be flown in or why the Aso Rock hospital isn’t well equipped. He also stated that countries in saner clime do not allow foreign nationals to touch their Presidents.

Recall that President Buhari on Tuesday, March 30, left the shores of the country as he travelled to London, UK, for a medical check-up.

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, said the trip is strictly “routine”.

In a statement released on Monday, Adesina said the president will first meet with the security chiefs in the morning. After his sit-down with the service chiefs, the president will then embark on his trip.

“President Muhammadu Buhari proceeds to London, the United Kingdom, Tuesday March 30, 2021, for a routine medical check-up,” Adesina said in the statement.

“The President meets with Security Chiefs first in the morning, after which he embarks on the journey.”

Buhari is expected back in the country in the second week of April.

Following his recent trip, angry Nigerians have since took to ths streets of UK to protest against his presence as they demanded that he repatriated back to Nigeria. 

Nigerians in the United Kingdom have stormed the Abuja House, 2 Campden Hill, Kensington, London demanding for President Muhammadu Buhari’s repatriation.

In a video tweeted on his verified Twitter handle, a Nigerian broadcaster and former presidential aide, Reno Omokiri, said they were there to chase the president back home.

In the trending video, Reno Omokri was seen talking to the police officers. In the video, Reno stood his ground by telling the policemen that he and other Nigerians have the rights to protest.

“The Police came but the #HarassBuhariOutOfLondon went on. A frightened @MBuhari refused to come,” he tweeted.

The president has embarked on several trips to the UK to seek medical care since he assumed office.

In 2017, the president spent over 150 days in the UK, treating an undisclosed ailment while the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, acted as president.

Buhari also returned to the UK for four days in May 2018 to see his doctor.
